Day 13
Friday
24 Nov 06'
Jasmine Low:
the Shanghai Immersion Trip is going to end… My buddy’s class 初二/二班 had a farewell party for us--- Shuk Yi, Kenneth and me. We were so excited that we jumped around. They even gave us a card and present. Quite touched. We also had a farewell meeting and sang ' 细水长流 ' for the Pei Ming teachers as well as the students to thank them.
Shermeen Lee
Today, I am both sad:( & happy:) ... I am sad to leave all the friends I had in Shanghai. But I am happy because I can go back home! Yay!!! Me and my Shanghai friends waved goodbye when the bus came to Pei Ming Middle School to bring us to the airport.
Gerald See-Toh
Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
It's our last day in Shanghai. We had a presentation on Shanghai's old street games. After that, we went outside and experienced the different types of games which Singapore doesn't have. It was really fun. Later, we had a farewell meeting. We sang a song to our buddy and everyone sang one part wrongly. We managed to camouflage the mistakes by continuing to sing without stopping. After saying our goodbyes, we headed for the Maglev train centre which will take us to the airport. After an hour of free time, we took the Maglev train to Shanghai Pu Dong airport. The train hit the speed of 301 km/h!!! We arrived at the airport in only 7 minutes!!
Wong Jit Nung
我们乘搭Maglev(磁悬浮列车)到机场,这是我们期待的。

Day 12
Thursday
23 Nov 06'

Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
Today is the day I have been looking forward to.. We went to attend a few lessons and later went to Supercomputer Centre.
It was truly fascinating. The computers there had specifcations of 21.5 Ghz and 4000++ GB of memory storage for the CPU. I have never seen one before and this is my very first time!
Later, we went to OSIM China HQ. The person who presented the Powerpoint presentation is a Singaporean and also an EX-HENDERSONIAN!! WOW!!! What a small world eh?

Gerald See-Toh

Wong Jit Nung
Carine Ng Shu Min
Shermeen Lee
Today in school, Joanne's buddy was a bit weird. I went over to look for Hui Jun in her class, suddenly, Joanne's buddy (who was from the class) appeared from nowhere and gave me a hug. Because we don't do that in Singapore, so i find it very weird. I asked her why she hugged me, is it a kind of greeting or something? Then Joanne's buddy replied," no...it's not a greeting. It's because you are very nice to hug, that's all." Then she started laughing. My reaction was... =o= lll

Day 11
Wednesday
22 Nov 06'

Kiang Qing Yi

Wong Jit Nung

Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
We attended the class that conducted ballet and acting. It was very interesting as the way they set up the place requires thinking.

Gerald See-Toh

Lynette Loo Jieyi
Today we had lessons in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, we walked all the way to Shanghai Theatre Academy, it's a university. The moment you step in, it looks like a chalet, a palace. Simply cozy and beautiful.
We saw one class act and a dancing class doing warm-ups. After that, we walked all the way back to school again.

It was then 12 p.m, one more hour for lunch, but when we got back, their maths teacher was in class(why? Because she 'ate' into their one hour of break time to have her lesson.) I ate behind the class with Yue Ning. So fun!

Alson Poh Soon Peng

Carine Ng Shu Min

Wong Jit Nung

I realised that the classroom tables are very clean. I asked my buddy and he told me that theyhad to clean it off if they drew on it. They are also not encouraged to do it. I believe that our school should mete out more serious punishment so that our tables would be clean. During one of the lessons, the teacher also talked about their school rules. It was quite the same as our school. Maybe their students respect their teachers more.

Day 10
Tuesday
21 Nov 06'

Kiang Qing Yi

Shermeen Lee

haha! Today a funny thing happened in my buddy's house. After we came back from school, i went in to the bedroom. It felt very cold, so i went to tell my buddy. She went to close all the windows in the room. Then I said,"You want me to die from suffocation?" Then my buddy started laughing like crazy for no reason. The way she laugh was so funny that it made me laugh too. ha ha!

Day 9
Monday
20 Nov 06

Lee Weng Leong

Fan Shuk Yi
Me, as the promoter went around with my buddy to promote the badge buttons. Although things did not go as smoothly as we plan but things get on well! I learnt that in any circumstance, we must learn to adapt. Thus, this could make things easier for everyone and do it faster.

Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
After lunch, we had activities
like some facts about chinese painting. We had art lesson too. For art, we had to tear the paper to make designs. It was tough but fun.

Carine Ng Shu Min

Day 8
Sunday
19 Nov 06'

Wong Jit Nung
My host family brought me to 2 different gardens. One that greatly impressed me was the 长风公园. Inside it is full of trees, colourful flowers, and most importantly, the fresh air. The is also a huge river for tourists to come and play. Later, we decided to book a boat, which requires arm s
trength to pedal. It was my first time so I treasure every wonderful moment on the boat. It wasn't quite steady, so we wore our floats, taking the advice of the boat renter. I paid a high price for such beautiful moments--- as i got out from the boat, my camera dropped and fell into the water :-{

Alson Poh Soon Peng

Kiang Qing Yi
Firstly, we went to the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel. It was really beautiful. The tunnel had lots of lights. It was like jumping into another world. Secondly, we went to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. It is 468m high. The second ball is 267m high, i think. But it was a pity we couldn't see the scenery as the clouds were low that day. Thirdly, we went to 新世界.

Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
We went to Oriental Pearl TV Tower. It was very scary as the lift went up 3-5 storeys / sec. There was a slight pressure in my ear, the scenery was AMAZING.

Benjamin Wong
I went to Nanjing Road 南京路. It is very crowded and
There is a lot of things to see and buy.

Gerald See-Toh

Today, I went to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium and Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. The Museum has 12 galleries. It is very different from Singapore as Singapore's land is smaller and cannot build too many things. I think if there is still land in S'pore, the government should build a bigger museum to educate the younger generations.

I am very grateful to my buddy's parents. Thay have taken care of me for 8 days and they didn't mind. I guess this is the best period of my education journey. I hope this trip will greatly improve my interest in Chinese.

Shermeen Lee

It was soooo fun today! Huijun and I and our buddies brought us out to play and shop. We went to take neo-prints and bought many delicious stuff. In the early afternoon, Huijun's buddy' s uncles and aunties and mother came to bring us to eat more delicious stuff. There were many things in Shanghai that we never ate before, so as we walked on, we ate. Some food taste nice and some taste weird. After a long and fun day, we went home.

Day 7
Saturday
18 Nov 06'

Leong Ying Yi
During our visit to the Shanghai Museum, we saw chinese calligraphies, pottery, oldern clothings and coins used during different dynasties. At the end of this trip, I believed that everyone had learnt some Chinese traditions, customs and cultures.

After which, we went to the urban planning centre, where each of us was given a piece of worksheet to complete, regarding the growth and competition between Shanghai and Singapore. Through this programme, I presumed that everyone was able to make a comparison and deduce an answer.

After a long walk under the drizzle, we arrived at the 7-storey, gigantic Shanghai Bookstore. There, one can find books of different sections, Chinese paintings, comics, as well as song albums where most were attracted to. After which, we were dismissed and from there, my buddy took me to the famous Nanjing Rd, we shopped, etc. I hoped that the rest of the team mates enjoyed themselves and learnt something new.

Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
6 days have passed and today is the 7th day. Today we went to the Shanghai Museum. It was filled with ancient ornaments. Somehow everything there seems to arouse my interest. Some ancient ornaments date back to the 10th century BC!!!
Later we went to the Urban Planning Centre. Some things there like the virtual world for example, looks very futuristic. The airport display is the most amazing to me as the airport can contain 60 million passengers few years later.

Day 6
Friday
17 Nov 06'
Timothy Chan Zhi Xin
We went to City God's Temple 城隍庙by my buddy's car. The shops are designed like temples.

I bought a lot a lot of things for me and my family members back in Singapore. Then I had dinner there. We ate many different types of food like 小笼包, 汤圆, tapioca cake, etc.

Carine Ng Shu Min
Today's science lesson, I learnt what forms DNA. The lesson was very factual and informative. During lesson time, the class was very quiet, not a single sound was made. During the 1 hour 30 minutes of lunch, we had a lesson on Music Appreciation. Henderson should also have this too. My buddy celebrated her birthday tonight. We went to a very grand hotel, 王朝 (Dynasty Hotel) for dinner. After that, her parents brought me to see the nightview of Shanghai. I took a lot of photos! The view is really beautiful!

Gerald See-Toh

Shermeen Lee

My buddy and I were very happy as we get a chance to stay up late for once. We played games and told ghost stories. :p
